Resveratrol is a natural compound found in grapes, nuts and wine. A 2006 issue of Nature published research showing overweight, older mice on a high calorie diet supplemented with Resveratrol lived longer and were healthier than similar mice not receiving the supplement. While red wine has long been attributed with the benefit of longer life and better heart health, resveratrol has now been found to be the element in the red wine responsible for these benefits.
